Design Review: Purpose, Principles and Practice
Municipalities, big and small are recognizing the importance of creating, maintaining, and preserving a distinctive and vibrant place to promote a restorative economy and environment. Planning and zoning offices, local universities, and not-for-profit agencies are responding by setting up urban design studios or by engaging a town designer to assist them with spatial aspects of design review. Rangwala will offer examples of integrating design review into the day-to-day zoning and development review process. The presenter will discuss responsibilities and issues, different design review methods, funding options, organization structure, and opportunities for public involvement. The webinar will feature design review examples from big cities and small towns with outcomes and lesson learned.
