One of World’s Largest Developers Adopts Form-Based Codes
Form-based codes are now part of planning for U.S. military bases worldwide.
Mark L. Gillem, PhD, FAIA, AICP is a Professor of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Oregon and Principal of The Urban Collaborative, LLC, an interdisciplinary design firm that focuses on preparing master plans and form-based codes for federal agencies. His firm developed and prototyped the concept of the Sustainability Component Plan and the Area Development Execution Plan. He is the author of America Town: Building the Outposts of Empire (University of Minnesota Press, 2007), recipient of the Environmental Design Research Association/Places book award in 2008. Dr. Gillem was the lead author and facilitator of the process that led to UFC 2-100-01.
