DIRECTOR OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The City of Fort Lauderdale is the seventh largest city in Florida and the largest of Broward County’s 31 municipalities.  The City prides itself on its collaborative working relationships within the community and has been ranked as one of the nation’s best cities in a variety of areas.  The City is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Sustainable Development (DSD).  The Sustainable Development Department encourages and directs orderly growth, and promotes well-designed development through planning that focuses on livability, urban revitalization, growth management, and historic preservation.  The Department has four divisions: Building Services, Code Compliance, Urban Design & Planning, and Economic and Community Reinvestment.  The Director reports to an Assistant City Manager and supervises 171 FTEs and an FY2016 general fund budget of $10.1 million.  The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership and management skills with an ability to build a collaborative and cohesive departmental team to provide exceptional customer service to the community.  A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning or other related field is required.  Candidates should have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the community development industry, preferably in a complex municipal government, of which at least five (5) years should be in a senior management capacity.   The salary range is $102,731 – $170,934; starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and is accompanied by an excellent benefits package.  Position is open until filled.  Selected candidate must establish residency within the city limits within six months.  To apply for this excellent opportunity, visit www.srnsearch.com and apply online.  Questions may be directed to S.
